Birostrisia's going to battle... no, that one's not feasible. >_< Let's try again... Ah, a Wooper. Good luck!

And good luck to me too! With a full time job, staying active is a lot harder!

Sorry for the double post; I didn't want this message to be missed.
I enjoyed reading your story, Ade! I got all the references before they were explained, which means you're good at keeping continuity. Now I'm almost sure I was right about Rhi's plan, but I'll wait and see. Take 19 stamps!

Genetic Research Lab Scenario

I needed to decide whether to stay here and battle soldiers who aren’t normal with psychic powers and incredible speed or go to the genetic research lab near Unicorn Gate. I wanted to do something because I felt not training my Pokemon for a while was kind of neglecting them because they were special to me. I remembered back in the past when I had took part in the Unicorn Games at the Unicorn Gate. That was a great time for my trusty Squirtle who is now a powerful Wartortle still fighting to get stronger. To make the decision of where to go I flipped a coin. If it were to be heads I would stay in Sector Alpha or if it were to be tails I would go to the genetic research lab.

I flipped the coin into the air with light from the sun being reflected off its gold surface causing me to be blinded for a second. By the time I had gained back my vision the shiny coin had landed on the floor tails side up meaning I would go to the genetic research lab to stop any Team Rocket or Crimson Blade members who got in my way. Looks like I should go to catch the free transport provided by the Dragons Guild to get to the genetic research lab near Unicorn Gate. I don’t need a reward for my help in this mission so I’ll just follow along and help them from behind but keep my known presence to a minimum.

I saw a load of Pokemon Trainers in the distance getting into a large transport vehicle ready to leave. I guessed that I was late as usual so I ran towards it knowing with many Pokemon Trainers around it would be hard for them to notice me. I kept my eyes out of the way of everyone else and shuffled along the crowd into the transport vehicle. I took my place at the back facing away from everyone else because I didn’t want to get involved with the other people on this mission. The vehicle made a bang then a loud engine noise and we had finally started moving out of the area and towards Unicorn Gate.

The transport vehicle with filled with so many Pokemon Trainers it had the air conditioning on full blast just to keep us all cool. With so many Pokemon Trainers around talking about what they were going to do when we got there it was hard not to listen in on them. I heard some wanted to see the genetic research lab because they had never been there before just like me because I’m stuck in my own little space. Others wanted to see rare Pokemon whereas other Pokemon Trainers were just looking for a good battle or two. I started questioning myself about why I had come on this mission and thought it was for the good of other people to stop Team Rocket and the Crimson Blade.

We had come to a halt so I looked further out the window to see a familiar place the Unicorn Gate. Everyone was loaded off the transport vehicle as we were just baggage without a purpose. This got me thinking that the Dragons Guild might have sent a lot of Pokemon Trainers here because some of us might not be able to accomplish the mission. I didn’t care if I wouldn’t come back from this mission alive because I knew I would come back from this mission victorious with my strong faithful Pokemon by my side. Avoiding the rest of the Pokemon Trainers I walked silently out of their way and into a back alley with a door that had been blasted through by someone else.

“Looks like it’s your lucky day.” A voice said from the darkness.
“Who’s there?” I yelled out being a little afraid.
“Only me.” A Team Rocket member showed himself as the lights came on.
“Team Rocket?” I acted kind of shocked but I knew they would be here.
“I knew it was a good idea to stay guard on that door we blasted.”
“You’ll have to pay for those damages.”
“We won’t be paying because we’ll be gone before the authorities get here.”
“Not if I stop you first with my Pokemon.”
“Your Pokemon will be powerless against ours.”
“I have faith in my Pokemon and they always come out top.”
“Guess this is where you faith ends.”

He pulled a Pokeball from his belt and luckily this seemed to be his only Pokemon but I knew there would be something fishy about it. When the Pokeball hit the ground a see-through liquid came from it that seemed to resemble a Pokemon. I looked hard at this see-through blob and notice it formed a Slugma shape that had been experimented on so Water type attacks wouldn’t affect it. So this Team Rocket member must have stolen it from the genetic research lab to take advantage of a Fire Pokemon who could battle in any watery condition. I decided to use reverse psychology on this Team Rocket member and use a Pokemon who’s weak to Fire against it.

Beldum (Level 12) vs. Slugma (Level 8)

Beldum took the first move without my command because he had learnt to take advantage of situations. Using a full power Take Down he flew straight at the Slugma who was just sitting there like a lump of clay. The next minute Beldum has hit the wall and Slugma is nowhere to be seen except a small puddle of dodgy looking reflective liquid on the floor. Slugma had dodged the attack using some weird powers never used in battle before. The Team Rocket member laughed but his Slugma could only fire a weak Ember back at Beldum who was stuck against the wall until the Ember hit his back.

Beldum flew back to where he had started after being hurt by an Ember in his back but it wasn’t that strong. So these modified Pokemon must have scarified some of their type power for a change in matter. As another Ember was running along the ground towards Beldum he hovered up and crashed straight down on top of Slugma with a Take Down. This attack had hurt Slugma because it was slower recovering to get up that before when Beldum flipped back off it. The Team Rocket member instructed Slugma to defend and a strange fire shield appeared around Slugma so we needed to act.

I told Beldum to try another Take Down but be careful so we can see what happens because this is a modified Pokemon we’re dealing with. Beldum flew into Slugma with a little power but as he touched the fire shield his metal body became red hot. Beldum flew back at me so I dodged him and he fell onto the floor with steam coming off him. I let Beldum recover because the fire shield had seriously hurt him and the Take Down recoil was getting to him. Luckily Slugma couldn’t do anything whilst concentrating on keeping his fire shield as a defence mechanism against Beldum who was just recovering with myself.

After Beldum had made a good recovery and ready to battle again the Slugma stopped using its fire shield as it faded away. Slugma looked totally exhausted but the Team Rocket member wanted to push it to its maximum so he yelled Blast Burn. Slugma charged all its remaining energy and fired a big beam of fire towards Beldum who quickly flew to the side of the lab. The Blast Burn attack had made a hole in the wall and made the Slugma dizzy. Beldum took this opportunity to use a Take Down as best he could on Slugma. Beldum stepped aside as the Slugma slowly dissolved into the floor fainting.

Beldum won the battle (Level 12+1).

“That was just to buy us some time.” The Team Rocket member mumbled.
“Buy you some time for what?” I questioned as he fell defeated.
“We needed these modified Pokemon.”
“Why do you need experimental Pokemon?”
“So the Crimson Blade can be stronger than they already are.”
“You don’t just steal, you steal for other people.”
“I guess I can finally rest peacefully in prison.”
“I’ve got to find what Team Rocket are really after as I’m running out of time.”

I looked around the room I was in because I never saw it before as I was so engulfed by the battle between Beldum and Slugma. It looked like a futuristic laboratory with strong metal walls and giant glass chambers for keeping experimental Pokemon inside. I walked over to the computer to see if I could find any information to why Team Rocket was here. When I tried reading the genetic research information on any of the computers it said it was confidential and I needed a password. I had wasted time trying to access confidential information so I moved on through the hole that Slugma had blasted in the wall because I needed a key card to open the electronic doors.

The passages seemed to go on forever looking the same except numbers on the doors. Since I didn’t have a key card I knew I wasn’t going to gain access to what was going on in them. I thought if Team Rocket were here they would have made their own way into where they needed to get to. Unless they had stolen a key card off one of the genetic research lab scientists as they blasted in the back door. Not all hope was lost because I finally saw an air vent in the corner of this passage after I had walked around this laboratory for like an hour. No one else was around so I kicked the air vent a few times so I could make an entrance into the air ducts around the genetic research lab.

The air vents seemed exactly like the laboratory with long passages that all looked the same. I made a few turns here and there because I had gotten so bored being in this genetic research lab for a long time. Eventually I found a way out of the air ducts and into some big room. Anything to leave these awful air ducts so I jumped out and into the room behind a bookcase. A few Team Rocket members said they would continue patrol the area in case any authorities showed up. A Team Rocket Executive had found one big glass chamber in the middle of the room with an Eevee in it. The Eevee seemed asleep but it looked like it had been through many experiments at this genetic research lab because I remember Gabi said Eevee had unstable genes.

“You can come out now.” The Team Rocket Executive said.
“Is he talking about us?” I questioned my Pokemon and myself.
“Come out Andrew.” He said because no one else was around.
“How do you know my name?” I asked as I came out.
“You’ve stopped Team Rocket a few times before I heard.”
“That’ll teach you to mess with me.”
“So much you’ve become quite a nuisance to us.”
“You think you can stop me?”
“Not really. I just want to see your Pokemon battle.”
“Why do you want to see my Pokemon battle?”
“So I can estimate their power and report back.”
“I guess you’ll be running home crying after this battle.”
“You’ll be battling this experimental Eevee.”
“Fine by Beldum and me.” I said as I sent Beldum out from his Pokeball.

Beldum (Level 13) vs. Eevee (Level 15)

Eevee ran around Beldum faster than a normal Eevee and this Eevee wasn’t brown but a white colour. Eevee also showed signs of being more aggressive and also more defensive than the average Eevee. Normally an Eevee wouldn’t have all the qualities of a good Pokemon because there’s no such thing as the perfect Pokemon. This Eevee must have been given a shiny gene hence its white colour and all high stats hence its good skills from experiments at the genetic research lab. This made it great for Pokemon battles and looked good to show off to other Pokemon Trainers who saw it.

Eevee came in with the first attack that was a petty Growl to lower Beldum’s attack power. Beldum’s Clear Body ability prevented Growl from lowering his attack power so he gave a Take Down straight back into Eevee. Eevee recovered quickly to try a Sand Attack but again Beldum’s Clear Body ability stopped Beldum’s accuracy from falling. Maybe this Eevee hadn’t developed a full understand of other Pokemon because it had no idea that Beldum had the Clear Body ability. This Team Rocket Executive also had control over this Eevee from the start of the battle and I thought this Eevee was just being experimented on. So once again Beldum went straight into Eevee with a fully powered up Take Down that dealt some heavy damage to the poor Eevee.

Eevee gave a smirk just before it started firing Bubblebeam and Flame Wheel in all directions with a Spark used as a shield. Beldum dodged the Bubblebeam so it hit the wall but fireballs rained from the ceiling because Flame Wheel had caused them. Beldum carefully dodged the fireballs that rained on him but got hit by one or two. When he got to Eevee surrounded by a Spark shield he used Take Down to break through it and that knocked Eevee to the ground. Beldum took some time to recover because an electric current still passed through his body. Eevee was really weak so Beldum used one final Take Down from high up that slammed on top of Eevee that caused it to faint as the Team Rocket Executive was laughing behind Eevee.

Beldum won the battle (Level 13+2).

“Why are you laughing?” I interrogated the Team Rocket Executive.
“Well there are two reasons why I’m laughing.” He said then laughed.
“Tell me what you guys are really up to.”
“I’m afraid I can’t but your Pokemon have such power.”
“So much power you wanted them to hurt a poor Eevee?”
“You see that Eevee wouldn’t have surrendered to us without your help.”
“What are you talking about?” I asked because I was confused.
“I needed you to weaken it so I could captured it.”
“So this is all my fault now?” I felt so guilty after I asked him.
“Indeed it is and I shall be making a quick getaway.”
“Come back here you bunch of cowards.”

The Team Rocket Executive and other Team Rocket members made a run for it out of the genetic research lab because I was on their trail. I followed them as fast as I could but I only managed to get out of the genetic research lab as the other Pokemon Trainers here had discovered how to open the doors. If I went back into the genetic research lab now I would be known and I didn’t want anyone else to know I was here. I thought those Team Rocket members must have got what they were looking for and ran back to their base or give their stolen Pokemon to the Crimson Blade. I walked a little further away from the genetic research lab to find some long grass so I could take a nap in it.

I done this Scenario in one part because when I done it in two parts before it always took me longer.

Sure. Assuming he meant Universal Adoption Center... Cambiamente's going to battle a Houndour. O_o The randomizer seems to like them lately.

And Ade, will you please bookmark the randomizer or save it in a file where you know you can find it?

Done. Hehe, I'm a ditz, what can I say?

Andy: Have nine stamps. Your style's a little hard to follow at times but I'm sure that will sort itself out with a little practice. You also got a little continuity problem insomuch as the Blades and Rockets are bitter enemies ever since the Blades leader Armand uhh... went and took Giovanni hostage, so a Rocket would never be helping the Blades out. @.@ Other than that it ain't bad.

And now onto Rhiannon mini-story part 2. For which I issue a public apology to Rhiannon. Seriously, I think I set a new low in being absolutely horrible to my characters here. :O
---
Funny, really, how the past has a strange way of catching up with you. No matter how hard you try to block it, no matter what measures you take to avoid it, sooner or later the skeletons in your closet will come back to life. It was a lesson Rhiannon was fast learning now. Her little party had been gathering momentum at a quite remarkable rate. Through barren plains, across crisp, icy streams, they had tore through it all with little effort. The most stress Rhiannon had to deal with had been Saul's constant mithering and Enigma's rather worrying ability to know all her dirty little secrets. Both of which Rhiannon could have dealt with.

Until they arrived here.

It was Rhiannon's first time in the field as a general. The mission was simple enough. Scare the occupants of the puny little village into either converting to the evil ways of the Dark Cloak or fleeing before their might. It wasn't nice work by any stretch of the imagination. But Rhiannon was quite happy to perform her duties. A month of study in the art of battle tactics had lent her the confidence she needed to inspire her men.
"This is going better than expected, my Lady," Amon, her one true love had commented to her on his half hourly reports on the progress of the mission. Like all good leaders they let their troops do the work. However, unlike for many this was not an act of cowardice. It was an act of mercy. "There's hardly been any resistance. We ought to have this town with only one or two casualties at the most."
"Good." As much as she wanted to believe the Umbreon's words there were alarm bells ringing inside the Eevee's head. This was almost going too smoothly. "We want the troops on guard, however. Something isn't right here."
"Nonsense. We have the situation in hand, my love. There's really no reason to get so paranoid about..." A sudden scream cut Amon off before he could hope to finish his sentence. Both pokémon turned to see what the matter was and were greeted with a sight that neither could have even hoped to have imagined. The populace of this little village had a secret weapon up their sleeves, it seemed. In this case the secret weapon was an Alakazam who was currently busy hurling Rhiannon's precious troops up and down with its psychic powers, an almost happy look in its eyes as it smashed through the Dark Cloak ranks with ease. Rhiannon was on the case almost immediately, racing towards her peers and barking instructions as if she had been doing this her entire life.
"Fall back! Don't try and take it head on unless you're confident in your speed! You! Over there! Head around the side streets and try to come back in from the side! You also! The more directions we strike from the more chance we have!" The pokémon under Rhiannon's command scattered as requested, performing arcs through the streets to converge upon their target from different directions whilst their general held the Alakazam's attention as best as she could. "We have to admit, you seem rather skilled." Rhiannon backed away from the creature slowly, trying hard to lure it into the most open area she could. So far it seemed to be working.
"Don't give me that honourable talk!" the Alakazam spat. "Don't talk to me as if we're equals! I have nothing to say to you scum! Oh, and don't think I don't know what you're doing, either. I'm onto your little games."
"Really?"
"Yes. Really." At this point the ambush was sprung, pokémon after pokémon rushing towards the Alakazam with claws and fangs bared. Only it didn't quite seem to work out the way that it should have. Every time a pokémon drew near to the Psychic type it was hurled back with incredible force, being tossed aside like a limp rag doll no matter how powerful a creature it might have been. Only the Dark types seemed to be getting through and those were met with a barrage of special punches that left them close to serious mutilation. Rhiannon stared on in mute horror as friend after friend fell to this creature whose righteous fury was reaching such a crescendo that the psychic blasts were now leaving pokémon crippled to an almost irreversible extent. "See?" the Alakazam roared at Rhiannon. "How do you like it now? You scum won't leave us alone! The only way you'll learn is by total and utter defeat!"
"The only way..?" By now the Eevee was almost visibly trembling with anger of her own. She didn't even realise that the emerald set into her skull was already starting to prise itself open against her will, the skies around her clouding over even as it did so. "You will stop this. If you side with good you'll realise this is unnecessary. Your actions are too much."
"It's all you scum learn! Dirty, filthy murderers, the lot of you! The more of you I can take out the better!" By now one too many of Rhiannon's allies had fallen to the frenzied Alakazam. By now rational thought had totally left her. The only thing on her mind now was vengeance. Vengeance for the fallen. Vengeance for every last creature who had lain their lives down for her.
"If you're so eager for a massacre then a massacre you shall get!" Rhiannon found herself roaring, the pitch black clouds above her seeming to swirl downwards in the form of a pitch black twister crackling with magical energy. She wasn't really sure what happened after that. The next few moments seemed something of a blur. Except...

...except when she finally came to her senses the village was much like it was now. Ruins. Every trace of life removed. Mercifully time had eroded the more grisly reminders of the lesson Rhiannon had learned that day; to have to witness as she did that day the mangled bodies of friend and foe alike, some of whom were no longer recognisable so ruined were their bodies, would have been more than her sanity could have taken. Yes, she had learned a harsh lesson that day. Her anger had destroyed it all. For weeks afterward she had done nothing but dwell on the lives she had taken. For weeks afterward she had tortured herself as if this would somehow bring them back to life. Hell, once or twice she had stood on the very top of the Dark Cloak fortress and seriously contemplated throwing herself off in atonement. And then the words of salvation came from a most unlikely source.

I heard what happened, Rhiannon, Reaper had commented one day at lunch. I think it a disgrace. With so much power we should be setting our sights so much higher than a poxy little village.

This got Rhiannon thinking. Was Reaper so callous as to care so little? And was she serious about setting their sights higher? If so, what was she planning? The little niggling worries got to Rhiannon so much that all of a sudden she found her sense of purpose again, even if that purpose was simply to stay alive and do what she had to to make sure the Salamence didn't get the chance to show the world what she meant by those words.
"Of course, it doesn't matter now, does it?" Rhiannon murmured sadly. "She managed to in the end anyway, didn't she?" The Jolteon gazed around her at the desolate, crumbling walls of these ruins that used to be so vibrant, so full of life. What was it all for? What good was any of it? She should have been used to being a walking magnet for disaster by now. But to have this blatant reminder of the blood on her hands... it was too much. Out of all the cruel things her old masters had forced her to do, why did she have to be stood in the remains of the one she regretted above all?
"Hey, cheer up!" Enigma was stood by Rhiannon's side, scanning the surrounding area. "Things could be worse, you know. There could be a gang of disgruntled pokémon here after your blood. In fact, I'm kind of disappointed there isn't. Things around here usually seem to play up to every cliché possible, don't they?"
"Not now, Enigma," Rhiannon sighed, peering over at a crumbling stone wall that she vaguely remembered used to be a bakery. "This really isn't a good time."
"It's never a good time," Saul added, bringing up the rear and regarding Enigma with suspicion. To say the happy little Poochyena had been growing rather possessive over Rhiannon lately was an understatement and he made no show of hiding the fact that he would have rather not had Enigma butting in on their little journey. Enigma chuckled as he barged his way past and caught up to where the leader of their group was inspecting what little remained of the village. "Rhiannon, let's get out of here. This place gives me the creeps."
"We can't." Rhiannon was sniffing at a wall with a great deal of interest. "There's something here. Not... not quite who we were looking for but so similar we really want to find out who it is. Come over here, Saul." The Poochyena nodded and made his way over to the wall. "Take a sniff around here. We'd like somebody else to memorise this scent."
"Why?" Saul asked with the curious innocence of a child.
"Because," Rhiannon responded, "this place has great significance for us and we don't trust ourself enough to maintain our concentration." Rhiannon allowed her friend to get a good grasp of the scent she was pointing out and turned to Enigma as he did so. "We suppose you already know who we seek and where to find them, correct?"
"Damn right. I'd be disappointed in myself if I didn't."
"We also suppose you know that if you were withholding anything that we thought might be vital information we would be forced to extract that information from you one way or another, right?" The tone was calm enough but the threat was obvious. Rhiannon was no stranger to playing the inquisitor. If need be she would do it again without a moment's hesitation. What was Enigma, after all, compared to all the lives that would be lost if Reaper and the Crimson Blades were allowed to carry on unchecked?
"Please!" For possibly the first time Enigma seemed somewhat flustered. "Have a little more faith in me! I'm on your side here! I don't exactly want the Blades to triumph either. If I thought your decision on this one would have any bearing on the final outcome I'd be the first to say. Funnily enough I don't much fancy living under Armand DiAnnio's reign."
"That makes two of us."
"Three, don't you mean?"
"Enigma." Rhiannon fixed the Eevee with a rather glacial stare. "What did we mention about this not being a good time?"
"Well excuse me for having a sense of humour!" Enigma snorted. "So you're going to be satisfying your curiosity, then?"
"But of course," Rhiannon replied, rather glad of the chance to give herself a little project to occupy her mind. "Saul, how are you at tracking scents?"
"I... I can do it just fine!" the Poochyena boasted with forced bravado. His eyes, however, told a different story. Rhiannon decided to let this slide, however. If she could help to make her friend feel useful – and she was acutely aware how how feeble he must have felt compared to Enigma or herself – then it would be at least one good deed to atone for her many sins. "Do you want me to track this scent, then?"
"Yes, Saul," Rhiannon nodded. "That would be wonderful."

As it happened Saul's lack of confidence was entirely misplaced. Sure, he had led them round in circles a few times as he paced ahead with his nose to the ground, sniffing furiously, and once or twice he nearly started following the wrong trail, but for a creature hardly out of being a pup he did an admirable job. And as twilight began to descend upon the realm he finally located their targets. A pair of pokémon sat around a rather rushed campfile, staring solemnly into the flames, neither really saying a word to each other. One was a Houndour. The other a Charmeleon who, Rhiannon was mildly surprised to find, had turned out to be the spitting image of a younger version of the creature she was currently hunting. The eyes were the same cool, calculating ones. The mouth was entirely without emotion. In fact the Fire type looked remarkably surly. He took after his father, alright!
"Let's go talk to them!" Saul grinned, his tail wagging madly behind him.
"No." Rhiannon restrained the Poochyena. "Not yet."
"Then what is your suggestion, mistress?" Enigma asked with only a slight hint of irony.
"We observe them for a while. We're pleased to see that our suspicions were correct, and if we can get that Charmeleon's aid our journey will be a whole lot simpler. He is the son of the one we are looking for, I'm sure of it. We just have to be careful to begin with. We're afraid that this particular family has a history of insanity to one degree or another." Her companions seemed satisfied, if a little cowed, by this explanation and seemed happy enough to crouch behind a nearby wall and peer out at the two pokémon as they sat around the campfire. Finally the Houndour spoke.
"This sucks. This sucks so badly I can't begin to describe it. I thought you said things would get better, Colt!" The Dark type glared over at its companion, who answered with a simple shrug. "I thought you said we could get resources easily! I thought you said we could rebuild! But no, we've just ended up stuck here even longer."
"The right opportunity hasn't come up yet, that's all," the Charmeleon finally responded calmly.
"Right opportunity???" the Houndour all but roared. "I've been waiting for that for two years!!! You think it's easy to watch your home be destroyed in the blink of an eye and then have nowhere to go? You think I'm enjoying having to live amongst the rubble of the place I grew up in? I sleep with nightmares of seeing everyone I loved strewn about the place in bloody heaps. And why? Because the supposed fresh start you said you could give me has been a whole pack of lies!"
"Oh my, I wasn't so far off the mark with the disgruntled pokémon thing, was I?" Enigma giggled in Rhiannon's ear. The Jolteon didn't respond. She was too busy staring ahead in mute shock. There was a survivor??? The feelings of guilt were already strong enough. How was she supposed to go and face the pair now? What if the Houndour recognised her? How was she supposed to tell it that she was the one responsible for all of its pain and suffering?
"You just shut up with your whining!" Colt roared, snapping the group's attentions back to the drama unfolding before their eyes. By now the Charmeleon had stood up and was advancing upon his companion. "You think this can be fixed overnight? If this is bugging you that much then go ahead, leave. See if I care. But you won't get very far without me to watch your back, you know that, right?" This seemed to shut the Houndour up, for it shrank back, cowed. Not that Rhiannon was surprised. A relative of Abbadon, the very embodiment of fury, was never a pleasant sight to behold when in a bad mood. Hell, even Kassandra, possibly the silliest pokémon Rhiannon knew, could throw a positively murderous glare when the mood took her. "I'll watch out for you. But I can't work miracles." At this point Colt sat back down and stared blankly into the flames of the campfire. Neither pokémon spoke again.
"Well?" Enigma asked. "What now?"
"Now..." Rhiannon replied almost numbly, "...now we face them. There is no point in delaying this any longer than necessary." With this the Jolteon stepped calmly out of hiding and into the clear vision of the two pokémon, walking towards them at a slow, steady pace clearly designed to mask her apprehension.
"Wow..." Enigma murmured. "You're a braver creature than I, Rhiannon. That's all I can say."
"She'll be alright, won't she?" Saul asked, clearly worried.
"That not even I know," Enigma replied solemnly. "We'll just have to wait and see, won't we?"

Time seemed to stand still the instant the two pokémon finally met Rhiannon's gaze. For one moment nobody was really quite sure what they were supposed to do. Finally Colt was the first to break the silence.
"I didn't realise there were any other pokémon hanging around here," the Charmeleon commented offhandedly. "How come we haven't noticed you before?"
"We're just passing through," Rhiannon replied calmly. "We need to be elsewhere."
"Then be on your way."
"Actually we thought you might be able to assist us."
"Assist you?" Colt looked stunned for a second then started to laugh. "Assist you? What of earth makes you think I'm going to assist you? For a start, I don't even know your name. Secondly, I've got enough on my hands with this one." Here he indicated his Houndour companion. "Sorry lady, but you'll have to get your help from someone else, 'cause I sure couldn't give a damn what you're after."
"We think you'll be interested in what we're after, Colt." This calling him by his name certainly seemed to get the Charmeleon's attention! "We seek an audience with your father."
"My... father?" Suddenly Colt's tone took on a rather dangerous edge. "I don't know who you are or what you know, lady, but whatever your mission is you might as well forget it. My dad's way too important to waste his time on the likes of you."
"We dispute that, Colt. We suspect he might be rather glad to see a friendly face for once rather than a terrified one. Although why we should still feel fondness for him after what he did is beyond us." Rhiannon's eyes filled with a sudden fire. Some wounds never truly healed, no matter how hard you tried. "Your father owes us. He owes us a lot. And we need his assistance. Surely you, his offspring, would know better than anyone where he might be hiding."
"Wait a second..." A thin smile crossed Colt's face. "Rhiannon, isn't it? Dad talks about you a lot. I'm glad to have met you finally. Although..."
"Although what?"
"Although if you want my help you're going to have to humour me a little first."
"Go on." Rhiannon didn't much like the way this conversation was headed. Nor did she like the rather cruel glint in Colt's eye. It reminded her too much of his father just before he lapsed into his psychotic half hours. "What are your terms?"
"I heard a lot about the weird stuff you guys were supposed to be able to do. But you must know my dad. He hates using all that flashy stuff, he'd much rather get his claws blooded in real combat. I want to see what you can do for myself."
"Is that a challenge?"
"Sort of. It's also me fulfilling part of a promise." Colt turned to his companion with an almost superior smirk on his face. "Hey. Cho. Remember how you were telling me a while back that you wanted to get revenge on the ones who destroyed your home?"
"Yeah?"
"Colt, please don't bring that up..." Rhiannon's voice was suddenly very small.
"Well look what we've got here. The general of the pokémon side of the army, all but handing herself over to you on a plate." The Houndour eyes Rhiannon suspiciously before turning to Colt.
"No. I remember seeing the general. It was an Eevee."
"You IDIOT!" Colt look all about ready to start fighting the Houndour himself. "Do you not even know what happens when an Eevee touches an elemental stone? It evolves! And if it happens to touch a Thunder Stone, like certain Eevees must have done at some point, it turns into a Jolteon!" For a moment the Houndour looked confused. Then the confusion gave way to anger and it turned on Rhiannon, teeth bared.
"Is this true???" it growled.
"I..." Rhiannon looked about ready to cry. "Look, it was never meant to happen, you gotta believe me! They never told me that could happen. They never told me and I know that can't possibly make up for anything I..."
"No more! Suffer like you made those I loved suffer, demon!" The Houndour pounced, teeth bared. Rhiannon screamed out loud in terror, frozen in place like a deer trapped in car headlights. And then something truly odd happened. All of a sudden it was as if the Houndour slowed down in mid jump, giving Rhiannon ample time to roll swiftly out of the way. Of course, the instant she did so time seemed to resume its natural pace and her foe landed hard on its nose in the dirt. "Trickery!" the Houndour spat angrily even though Rhiannon had no idea what she had just done. "I'm going to show you true pain! For all the ones you killed! I will avenge them!"
"I told you if I could turn the clock back I would but..." Rhiannon avoided another attempted pounce.
"But you can't so face the consequences of your actions!" It was quite obvious that the Houndour wasn't going to quit until it had either torn Rhiannon apart or had been defeated. Neither seemed a particularly attractive prospect to the Jolteon. But what could she do? She had a mission to complete, after all. After that her enemies could tear her limb from limb if they so chose. She probably deserved it. Until then, however, survival was the name of the game.

FIGHT!!! L11 Jolteon v L11 Houndour!

"Die!" Again the enraged Houndour took a swipe at Rhiannon. And although she dodged quite easily it was quite obvious to see that she would have to fight back at some point. The question was, could she do it? Knowing what she did, could she defend herself against this creature who hated her so justly?
"Hang on..." Again the Houndour took a swipe at Rhiannon. Again she dodged with ease. Had she the inclination to fight this would have been an easy one even if she had been in the mood to play the child. Her opponent seemed naturally clumsy, not to mention irrational in its attack methods. Even a pokémon without her schooling in battle tactics would have had little problems in outsmarting it. The trouble was that she felt like the bad guy in this whole situation. It had been her mistake that had cost this pokémon so much. And inwardly she felt as if she deserved to suffer for it.
"There's to be no hesitation!" the Houndour snapped, spitting out a ferocious Ember in Rhiannon's direction in a blind fury. "Did you hesitate to murder my trainer or my family? Was there any hesitation when you destroyed my home?" Another Ember. "You deserve no hesitation."
"You're right." Rhiannon bowed her head in shame, her mind now made up. The two Embers struck hard but the pain they brought was only a fraction of that she probably deserved. "I deserve nothing. I can't turn back the clock." This in itself was no lie. Her magic may have specialised in the distortion of time and space, but the fact that time that had passed could never be returned to was true enough. "Do as you want. I deserve it all."
"Well then, if you insist..." The cruel smile on the face of the Houndour said it all. Here was its chance for vengeance handing itself over on a plate! What kind of fool wouldn't take advantage of that?

"We gotta go help her!" Saul was straining at the leash to step in and somehow save Rhiannon. Sadly several vines, icy shields and a convenient metal cage that had materialised out of nowhere were preventing him from doing so. "Let me go!"
"Sorry Saul. This is for your own good," Enigma commented. "You're just going to get yourself killed or something if you step in now. That Houndour's pretty pissed off."
"But why?"
"Rhiannon made a mistake a long time ago," the Eevee explained. "And it affected him. And he's never forgiven her in spite of the fact she's clearly a different pokémon to the one she was when she made the mistake."
"Why can't he see that?" Saul cried.
"Believe me, if more could accept that the past is the past and holding grudges is useless in the end then we'd be taking a major step towards world peace. Which, incidentally, YOU'RE not doing much to promote." All of a sudden the Eevee whipped round and tripped a certain Charmeleon up as he tried to sneak away. "Pretty cowardly given your heritage. When Rhiannon does find your father he's not going to be too happy when he hears about this little scene, is he?"
"What do you mean? You know nothing of my dad!" Colt bluffed, although he wasn't doing a very good job of it judging from his petrified eyes.
"Actually I do. Call it one of my odd little quirks. Between you and me, odd random snippets about those around me just keep popping into my head. Between you and Rhiannon you've given me so much that I probably know your dad better than he knows himself. Trust me. If he finds out about this he's going to flip."
"Wha... what are you saying?" Colt swallowed hard.
"Congratulations, Colt, you've just been enlisted on the great Abbadon hunt. I'm so pleased you agreed to help us." the Eevee sneered. "Now you just stay right here..." Here the Charmeleon found himself restrained ten times more securely than Saul, every Hidden Power that Enigma possessed securing him to the spot in some way. "And I'll go back to keeping an eye on Rhiannon. She's in a tight spot thanks to you." The Eevee glared at Colt one last time before returning to watch Rhiannon's battle. Sometimes you had to decide on your priorities, after all.

To be honest this was no battle Rhiannon was currently engaged in. This was a massacre. Not once had she moved to attack, dodge or defend. She had just sat there, head bowed, as her opponent shot Ember after Ember in her direction and took countless swipes at her with its small claws. Every fibre of her being roared with pain. And the worst part was that she still didn't feel as if she had paid her dues. She still felt as if she deserved to suffer more for the sins she had committed so long ago. So she sat. Sat until the feelings of guilt could finally be washed away.
"Why won't you fight back?" By now Rhiannon's opponent was beginning to find that his rage wasn't being satisfied when his enemy accepted her punishment so meekly. This wasn't exactly how he had envisioned this day! He had been expecting some demonic force, some wrathful and hateful figure who embodied everything he despised. Instead he found himself facing this small and pitiful thing that seemed incapable of even the most basic forms of self defence. "Fight me properly, damn you!" Again the Houndour swiped at Rhiannon, tearing yet another painful gash in her side. And again she did nothing bar hang her head in shame. "Come on!!" By now frustration – and not to mention a little guilt – was beginning to creep in. "Attack me!"
"You've suffered enough because of me," Rhiannon finally whispered, not looking up. "Please. Just do what you must. I deserve it."
"Damn it, I didn't want this!" Again the Houndour attacked, although the venom in his assaults was draining almost as his thirst for vengeance. "Why won't you act like the murderer you are?"
"I'm sorry," Rhiannon whispered, silent tears trickling from her eyes. "I don't know any other way to act. I know loss. I know how much you must be hurting. So it'd be stupid for me to do anything apart from accept the consequences of my rashness."
"Rashness?" the Houndour roared, blasting Rhiannon with an Ember that would have finished off most normal pokémon on its own. "Is that what you call it? You and your kind destroyed this place, and you call it mere 'rashness'? What you think of as rashness I call the end of everything!" The pokémon snorted angrily. "Maybe I ought to just kill you and make the world a better place!"

The end of everything... a plan put in action so many years ago... they may have failed with their main assault, but the back up plan was about to go into motion.

Sudden Rhiannon's eyes hardened and she sidestepped a final blow with ease, her opponent stumbling beside her. Quickly she seized her chance, Tackling her opponent as hard as she could and sending him crashing into a far wall.
"We have precious little time to waste on these petty games. If we allowed ourself the time to repent then it would be the entire realm, not just this village, that would be reduced to nothing."
"What are you babbling about? This is personal!"
"And this is not a time for vendettas. Forgive us. When this is all over we shall return and you may do with us as you see fit. Until then, we're sorry, but we we have to do you one further injustice." So saying, Rhiannon took a few steps forward, sparks beginning to crackle all around her fur. Her opponent could see what was coming a mile off and began scrambling for cover. Sadly it was too late. Already the huge arc of electricity was snaking towards it, striking the Houndour hard and causing it to screech in pain. Yet somehow it still managed to cling onto consciousness, glaring over at Rhiannon with hate filled eyes.
"So... this is your true self, monster..." the Houndour spluttered.
"This is not how we would have things. But you stand between us and our goal. We have no choice." Suddenly the Jolteon darted forward once more and rammed hard into her opponent, bringing it to the floor for good with one final, well-placed blow. Picking herself up - for the blow had been with such force the Jolteon had ended up tumbling a little herself due to her own momentum - Rhiannon padded over to the fallen pokémon had been knocked and placed her front paw gently upon its side. She exhaled deeply.
"Is he...?" Colt gasped from the sidelines.
"No." Rhiannon shook her head. "This place has seen too much death already. Come on. We should be moving." Silently Rhiannon trotted back to her group, walking almost noiselessly past them in the direction Enigma had assured them would lead to Yvresse. Her head was swimming with thoughts. With regrets. And with guilt. But she would have to ward them off for now. She had a job to do, and no amount of bitter memories was going to stop her from accomplishing it.

Rhiannon wins!
Rhiannon grew to L12!

Later on, when night had truly set and the ever-growing group were snuggling down for the night in a convenient cavern (Colt had proven to be more skilled in the art of survival than even Rhiannon, and had shown his worth by locating shelter within moments of the group requiring it) the friends of sorts were saying their good-nights and getting ready for a decent rest.
"Good night, Saul." Rhiannon favoured her Poochyena companion with a small peck on the forehead before covering him in a thick blanket she had stolen after a quick trip back to base to check up on her teammates. She then headed over to the mouth of the cavern, where Enigma and Colt were waiting for her. "Well." she said flatly.
"Well." Enigma responded with a lopsided grin.
"Well?" Colt asked impatiently, already fed up with this curious exchange.
"We finally reach the border of Yvresse," Rhiannon explained. "Which is where you come in."
"Yes, Colt, don't pretend to us you don't know where your dear old daddy is," laughed Enigma in the irritatingly perky tone the Eevee always seemed to use.
"Fine. I'm not." The Charmeleon rolled his eyes. "Last time I saw him he told me he'd found some underground ruins that were a perfect home for him. Far away enough from civilisation so that he could exist peacefully ninety percent of the time... and close enough that he could go hunting the other ten percent." Here Colt grinned evilly. "Apparently some ancient temple of the ones who ruled Ulthuan before humans settled here. It seemed to get dad very excited but I couldn't really be bothered following half of what he told me about it to be honest."
"Well, well..." Enigma pondered this for a moment. "There's still some undiscovered traces of the Old Ones?" Everyone stared at the Eevee oddly. "Okay. I suppose I ought to take this from the top. Mankind and pokémon have only really inhabited Ulthuan for the past few hundred years. Before that there lived another race entirely, similar in many ways to humans but far more attuned to the ways of magic. They carved themselves a great empire and at one stage ruled the entire of Ulthuan. Then... well, records of what caused their downfall are pretty sketchy. All we know is that their magic eventually consumed them entirely. Something, somewhere, went horribly wrong and the race was wiped from the face of the planet, leaving behind precious few reminders that they were even there. I guess the most notable relic from those days is the great lighthouse at Lothern. But every now and then you hear of new ruins being discovered and they're inevitably of great magical and psychic interest. But hmm... one thing doesn't really fit here. From what we know of Abbadon he's not exactly fond of using his magic. Why would he be getting excited by relics of the Old Ones, which are almost inevitably going to be of magical origin?"
"You're the thing that doesn't really fit here," Colt commented. "How the hell do you know all of this stuff?"
"Sorry. That's top secret information and if I told you everything I wouldn't be able to call myself Enigma would I?"
"Don't start." Rhiannon shook her head before the conversation could go off on a tangent. "We all know you're not exactly being straight with us, Enigma, but as long as you seem willing to help you can keep all the secrets you want. Please don't make such a big deal about it though. Our head is really hurting at the minute and we don't need any more of these conversations."
"Sorry," the Eevee shrugged. "I guess it's not been your day today, has it? You holding up okay?"
"We don't have time to be buried in remorse now," Rhiannon responded calmly. "There's too much at stake." The Jolteon cast her gaze out at the moonlit sky. It seemed to peaceful. So serene. But that wasn't going to last. Unless she could find the one creature both strong enough to take on Reaper and dependable enough to not load his assistance with a myriad of conditions – Tsuyoi could have done the job with ease but his help always came at a price – then there would be few more nights like this one. "Come on. We have a long day ahead of us tomorrow. Let's get some rest." At this point Rhiannon turned back into the cave and made herself as comfortable as possible. If recent events were anything to go by, tomorrow would be a long day indeed.

EDIT: Thrown in another blow on Rhi's part. Two tackles and a thunderbolt sound feasible against a creature whose defensive powers aren't exactly great?

Just what I expected from your description, Ade. The story was good... a natural consequence of everything that's been going on so far. You've always been good at keeping continuity. Just... how did Rhiannon gain a level if she used her special abilities in the battle? And does Kass know Rhi considers her insane? Take 18 stamps for the story, we'll discuss the level next time we talk. ¢¢¢¢¢¢¢¢¢¢¢¢¢¢¢¢¢¢

Andy, I've posted my comments at the FAQ topic on TL.

Sorry if it seemed like she was using her special abilities there, all I actually had in mind of her doing was sneakily using Recover until her opponent had his fill of pounding her, if I actually mention this happening would it make the level valid?

And then she took him down in a single blow how...?
It's valid if it's clear.

Okay, while I try and sort out what I want to do for Cambiamente, can I get a random battle for Lady Bow, please? Let's try the Universal Adoption Center again. *pays 7 stamps*
